When I think of my Grandad Al, I will always have many fond memories. He loved cooking and I remember one time he spent what felt like 6 hours on a chicken curry, we all had a giggle when it finally arrived at the table. He loved his scrabble shed and me and Georgia would visit most summers and craft in the scrabble shed whilst eating knickerbocker glory’s. They were delicious and a particular speciality of grandads. He was quite the craftsman and instead of buying a paddling pool for us in the summer, he made one out of old wood he had and some tarpaulin. Me and Georgia thought it was the best thing ever! He would always take us on walks to Rendlesham forest and would tell us stories about the UFO’s. I loved those walks and the stories he told us. On the way back in the van, he would play ‘Ernie’ by Benny Hill and myself and Georgia just thought it was the most hilarious song ever. The van would be filled with laughter all the way to the house, and Grandad was made to play the song on repeat, which he didn’t seem to mind! Although his great grandchildren Ettalie and Florence never got the opportunity to meet him, they will know all about their Great Grandad Al, how special he was and all of the amazing memories he gave their mummies whilst growing up. Rest in peace Grandad. We love you and will miss you so much 🤍
